The new Global Terminal and Global Concourse at O’Hare International Airport will secure Chicago’s role as a world class city well into the future. It will provide a magnificent welcome to the city of Chicago for its 83.4 million annual travelers from all around the world.
The design was inspired by the branching Chicago River and expands the terminal by 3.4 million square feet and increases international and domestic travel capacity by 20 million passengers annually. The new terminal will combine both international and domestic operations, allowing passengers to connect to domestic flights from different destinations.
Garza Karhoff Engineering is deploying our structural engineers for the design and development of the structural plans, as well as implementing 3D modeling toward the foundations and substructure of the new terminal. The substructure consisted of 625 belled caissons, 44 rock socketed caissons, and 134 shallow footings.
